Solutions for your Basics from your Outside to your Inside

There’s never any reason to be a Plain Jane.
(Unless that’s what you’re going for it – as in minimalism)….
I buy lots of basics and neutrals just for the reason to advertise my accessories. From the top of my head to the tip of my feet,
I love to make my basics into works of personal style.

    For my Soul Style,
I have also been reading a cool book called “The Dark Side of the Light Chasers” by Debbie Ford. It helps me embrace my ‘dark side’ so that I can fully appreciate my true nature. I believe it is vital to help me cope with things from everyday nonsense to the really big stuff, like my Parent’s illnesses. It also guides me to accept the anger, guilt and frustration, and realize it is a normal part of human nature. This has been one of the tools I’ve been using to grow into a more wise, healthy woman;) I highly recommend it. You will gain the power to spank your inner moppet, then hug her 😉

Have a great day x two and-
Hug your inner Moppet for me!

  • It’s a Celebration

    It’s a Celebration

    Ah, I know. It’s getting old –
All this darkness with it’s cold.
But never fear – It’s almost here,
    Soon we’ll don our saved-up gear…
    .
As in Spring stuff! Bare legs with boots, flowy tunics and all that garb…..
So today I’m celebrating the last official day of Winter.

While ‘celebrating’ on the sofa, I got a package today from across the pond that made me so happy 🙂 Ohh, what could it be? It’s in pink wrapping! Eek! I love packages! Such a sweet surprise can twist an ordinary day into a special day. It show’s how much you are thought of, and is a permanent grin guarantee for the rest of the day. I can’t wait to wear it tomorrow! She knows me so well! Now, I am going though some of my treasures to send to her, as well as a few other wonderful ladies I’ve grown to love. I believe that sending a package will be even more fun than getting one! So, tomorrow you will see the present and of course I will gush about how wonderful she is 🙂

How will you celebrate the day?
    Reva 😉

  • Weird, Random and Tall

    Weird, Random and Tall

    Hi Everybody!

I’m watching “Healing in the Heartland” right now. It is such a wonder to see how incredibly generous people can be when a tragedy happens. Tears, anger, fear and acceptance are all such powerful human emotions. They seem to bring out the best (and sometimes) the worst in us. It seems that while I’ve been cruising through my forties, there has been a huge helping of tragedy served up in my little bubble of a world. Watching my Parent’s go through the latter stages of life has been the most powerful experience. I’d like to tell you all that it is a wondrous journey and a path to inner self awareness. The honest truth is, it is hard. There are days when I get homesick (still!) and there was a time not long ago, that I could go get a week’s worth of hugs and sympathy any time I needed it. Those days seem to be gone for the most part, and it is rather scary. It is time for me to stand on my own. Another frightening prospect. You see, I am the baby. I didn’t have kids. I’ve only had a few plants and cats.

There is no instruction book for these times. It’s all random. Fly by the seat of your pants random.
A little later than most, I am finding my footing slowly. A depression here, a belly-laugh there. Life goes on. It truly does. I am finally figuring this one out and my latest mantra is: NOTHING IS PERMANENT. It’s true!
This concept and truth are allowing me to continue to get up, get dressed and look another day square in the eye and say,

    “Let’s Do This.”

  • Summer in a JCPenney dress / Perfect!

Summer in a JCPenney dress / Perfect!

    Hi Everybody!

I played hookey last week. It was a rainy, stormy week, so I did indoor stuff.

I am wearing another JCPenney find. I actually ordered it during the Spring. The pattern and colors were a bit different so I went for it. I usually NEVER order dresses, as my boobs have a universe all their own, but since there is a real store nearby, I did it. Very satisfied I must say!

This dress was very well priced. What caught my eye was pretty much everything. Keyhole neckline, a back cut-out which still covers a real bra, (of course, I forgot to photograph it), color, waistline in a more natural cut, (not too high) and high-end stretch cotton. The brighter colors and ‘mirror’ effect pattern brought it into the world of modern without making it too trendy. This dress will go far. I see flip-flops to layers and boots. a chunky cardi, perhaps? We’ll see!

I will try to go with the flow.

Little red leaves dancing around in my dreams…

I also planted my flowers for the season. Truthfully, I really dislike Summer. UNLESS, I am on my way to the beach. During the super high temps. I am an air conditioned kind of gal. I was sweating profusely here. Your welcome…

    Here’s to a great week!

  • Crimson and Roses

    Crimson and Roses

    Hi everybody!
Hope you all had a great long weekend 🙂 We didn’t do much,
but did really dig the cool summer air blowing through the curtains at night.
Also, my one and only rosebush is in full bloom! YaY!

Most women my age wouldn’t see that as a huge venture that involves bragging rites, but I (or should I say, our rocky-ass yard) cannot grow the average flowering plant. Of any sort…

So, in honor of the crimson roses that are making my front yard a bit less drab -The ones making us not “Those Neighbors” who grow dandelions for sport, I am wearing a thrifted deep red Liz Claiborne dress. I LOVE the drop waist and I cut out that stifling attached slip to make it properly sheer… It could be really pimped out with a belt, baubles, vests, etc…,But it seemed to lay better sans tons of accessories. Just a wisp of red silk. Monochromatic.
If you don’t count 2 scarves;)
This dress will definitely see some action this fall!

How would you accessorize this dress?
Do you enjoy wearing non-traditional seasonal colors?

  • Proper Bling for Ratty Jeans

    Proper Bling for Ratty Jeans

    Hi all!
Here is my version of the Over 40 Boyfriend Jean. Just as baggy, just as ragged – but with a proper blazer, lots of rhinestones and prom pumps for that “what the?” stare that reigns over the western side of Cincy. In the world of blogging, this look is old hat. An almost non-post worthy look. In the midwestern burbs, however, I am right on point…

I thrifted this jacket last year, but never wore it. It was planned for belting, short suits and jeans. Wearing it with a plain black tank and jeans is my “No sweats – No way” casual drag. The pumps? Well, they’re just pretty 😉 The earrings are in honor of my love of art deco… Lastly, the hat – to break up all that foo-foo 😉

  • Summer Layers / Summer Deals

    Summer Layers / Summer Deals

    Happy Friday!

This outfit is finally welcoming summer. I like to wear dresses, but the dress just seems to have less imagination in the summer without layers and such.
So, when I can do a summer layer, I go for it!
Not that there’s anything wrong with a pretty dress,
like the one I just won from Pam’s eShtaki giveaway!
I can’t wait to show it to you!

By the time you see this,
I will be on my way to Cumberland Falls
    for a pre-birthday celebration!
    YaY!
See you in a couple days 🙂

  • I’m Back

    I’m Back

    Hi everyone!
A quick note to say I’m back and share the beauty of Kentucky with ya. We had a great time and tomorrow is my ‘official’ Birthday, which will consist of shopping, a movie and something yummy in my tummy! Thanks for all the well-wishes and a big Happy Birthday to all my June blog babies out there! Regular posts to resume mid-week. Have a great Monday!
