    Corporate Hippie

    Hi everyone!
This dress came all the way from across the US-
    Around 2000 miles….
My hubs bought it for me on our honeymoon in San Diego. I’d never get rid of it. He too has a small pile in his closet that will never go as well. His are daisy dukes from the late 70’s and shrunken vintage concert tees, even a Bob Dylan. I’ve already ready raided his Cowboy Junkies. Time for Dylan, maybe?

I feel so grown up when I don a jacket…

I think everything can be brought up-to-date with a fitted jacket, cinched belt and shooties. Double up on the skirts, grab a tiny floral bag and wa-la! Shiny, new dress! (PS- I think Kasmira coined the word shootie for a shoe bootie!)

    Now,
    This little bag will only
    hold my essentials:
    1) license / credit cards
    2) 2 lip sticks
    3) ciggys/lighter
    4) remote/lens cap (I loose then alot)
    5) keys
which usually makes me a double bagger
(I put this cutie in my huge satchel-
I usually look like a shoplifter)

    It’s all about the Inside

    Hi all!
I usually choose a coat that has something a bit funky
on the inside. Apparently, my neighbor Buddy does too!

    Here’s to a funky week!

  • Little White Dress Alternative

    Little White Dress Alternative

SKIRT, TOP, BOOTS: thrifted , HAT: K-mart (I think) ,
CROSS: thrifted , PENDANTS: various gem shops

Happy Monday and a big HI to my new blog buddies!

The little white dress is all the rage this summer.
To me, taking a trend and making it my own is what personal style is all about.
This is my alternative to the trend.
Skirts allow for so many more looks compared to the dress.
I wasn’t sure how the white on white would look,
but pop me into a cowboy hat and everything seemed to flow just right!
The boots and accessories gave it the right toughness for all that white.

What trends are you making your own this summer?

  • Summer in Black

    Summer in Black

The weather in the mid-western US has been absolutely perfect!
Since the temps have dropped to the high 60’s/low 70’s,

    With lots of summer brights
    and sheer pieces floating around,
I have suddenly been drawn to more basic pieces lately.

So this cool season is giving me a chance to layer with black again.
    (For A few minutes, anyway)
Black is also the best backdrop for tons of accessories;)
I’ve also been jogging! YaY! The weather is perfect for it
and I feel great doing something to make myself healthy.

I am finally working toward my goal to be
“The Best Me I can Be” by 50!

  • A Perfect Jean

    A Perfect Jean

You don’t see me in jeans much. That’s because I have a hard time finding jeans that fit.

I had looked almost everywhere for these jeans!

You know, the kind with the above-the ankle slight flair?
      They kick ass with heels!

They ride high enough to show off your strappys…
I’m not sure why I was attracted to the look.
Maybe because it’s so wrong, it’s right?
I finally thrifted these American Eagles, and as a bonus,
a tee from Istanbul, with Turkey spelled Turkiye’.
      Go thrift shops!

    • I’ve got a secret…

      I’ve got a secret…

      I love kitschy flip-flops!

      There, I said it…
      Don’t judge.

      The Glamour Shot…

(It’s hard to look glamorous in this skirt)

      though it does have pockets!

TOP: Target / SKIRT: thrifted / TANK: Walgreen’s
FLIPPIES: Hilton Head Island Gift Shop (old)

Now tell me YOUR style secrets!

    • Right Here, Right Now

      Right Here, Right Now

Truer words have never been spoken…

Since beginning this blog, I have found myself trying new looks, and at times, wearing stuff just for the sake of a good post. Those days have long passed, thank goodness. However, since I’ve gained a bit of weight, I look through my closet and think “What was I thinking”? I do miss my little vintage numbers and can’t wait to fit back into them again. Til then, I am drawn to my eclectic boho side. I am preferring basics with accessories.

Or ‘basically’ just being me, right now, as I am!

This is giving me an opportunity to be more creative. To think outside the box and come up with looks that flatter without sacrificing my inner style voice. Like making these jeans (formerly my husband’s) and wearing a skirt as a top. Tying up a tank and wearing a bolero. That may not land me on a best dressed list, but I kinda like it that way… Too much pressure 😉

JEANS ARE A DIY COPY OF A COPY OF AN EXPENSIVE PAIR OF DESIGNER JEANS.
      I FORGET BY WHOM…

      Here’s to celebrating Self,
right now – as we are!

      Happy Wednesday,
      xXx

    • “Told Ya So Tuesday” / Mint

“Told Ya So Tuesday” / Mint

Each year, there seems to be a color of the moment.
This year it’s mint. From mint clothing and bags, to shoes and accessories.
Plus the top has another trend factor: Sheer.
I toughened up the shade with a little black for good measure.
I didn’t get this one on 1/2 price day, but at $8.00, it’s still a bargain!

SUNNIES: Vintage / SHOES: Dot’s / EARRINGS: Gift / RING: costume store

(“Told Ya So Tuesday” is a regular feature at Rags2Roses
which proves that any trend can be thrifted.)
