  • Follow Your Floral Guts

    Follow Your Floral Guts

Ya know how the ‘experts’ say
    that if you haven’t
    worn something in a year,
    donate it?

That is not true in my little world…
Every 5 to 8 years, trends recycle themselves. The only usual difference is
a slightly different waist/hem/length. I have clothes that are 15 or more years young.

    And I still wear them!

I go by my gut when it comes to style or trends. If I like it, I keep it. There will always be room for a bag or two of extra keepers… Like these floral pants that are stomping down runways all over the place. I’ve had them since the very late 80’s/early 90’s. A wide-leg pant can dress up or dress down any outfit 😉

  • Pastels, Jeans, and Watercolor Shoes, Oh My!

Pastels, Jeans, and Watercolor Shoes, Oh My!

    Hi everyone!
    TGIFrigginF….

Just kidding. I had a great week. I threw caution to the wind and sunbathed twice this week. I promise I put sunscreen on my face… I read style magazines (from the library,
of course) and am finally gonna plant some flowers this year! Really!
My yard is dandelion palooza. Maybe I can just plant those?
I also cleaned my white (what-was-I-thinking) patio furniture. WARNING:

Don’t use bleach while the furniture is on your deck.

    You get the picture…
Oh Yeah, and I can get my entire lower body back into my skinny jeans!
All in all, a great week 😉

  • Animal Prints Part 2 / As A Neutral

Animal Prints Part 2 / As A Neutral

    I’ve never been
    one to dictate
    the long or short
    of skirts
in reference to a woman’s age.
    If you rock it,
    If you feel great,
    do it to it!
    Though,
Dark tights have become my pal
    with mini’s 😉

    This look is part 2
of rethinking animal prints as a neutral…
Honestly red was easy. I am gonna venture out into more daring territory.
    Send suggestions, please 🙂

Also when tights are paired with tall boots, mini’s really rock!

    back to the leopard…
I really dug mixing the plaid scarf and skirt.
How about florals and animal? – Brights?
As my brain is churning I ask myself, WWKD?
I wonder what I did with my zebra leggings? 😉

  • Synchronicity….

    Synchronicity….

    Hi everybody,
Hope the week is treating you great so far…

I don’t have a whole lot to say today other than I am learning what ‘fits’ my style without compromising it. I know how much everyone hates to hear about body insecurity, but…..
Lately I’m dealing with major body image issues. I don’t feel good about my body. Period.
    I feel warped – out of sync…
This usually passes. I suppose that’s where wisdom comes in. Everything passes in time and when I am feeling something is ‘off’, it usually comes from pride, ego or self-esteem issues. Comparing, instead of celebrating the differences between us all. Do you ever have one of those days (weeks)? How do you change your mindset? Please share 🙂

Maybe it’s time to elevate the old serotonin by getting out the Zumba 😉

  • “Why yes, I do!”

    “Why yes, I do!”

    Hi everybody!
Thanks for the nice thoughts sent out my way yesterday. It was just one of those days…
Ya know- The other day at the doctor’s office, a lady told me that I reminded her
of her daughter. Of course, instead of ‘thanks’, I asked why.
“Do you shop in thrift stores?” she asked. “Why yes I do!”
“You look so neat and hip. My daughter loves thrift stores.” she said.
My ego was flattered. I think…
We proceeded to chat about how finding things in a thrift store gives you more choices, more unique style and we even talked about ‘cookie cutter’ fashion!
A stranger told me she hated looking like everybody else and liked thrift store
fashion as much as I do. Thank you strange, friendly lady!
These are the thing that make my love of “Style Art” so exciting and rewarding.
These are the things I should dwell on. Positive feelings… A stroke or two never hurts 😉
Thanks, Zen Master – It really is about the style, not the body wearing it!

Have you guys figured out who my mentor is yet?
    I LOVE her and,
    I’ll never tell….
    xXx

  • A Slumber Party

    A Slumber Party

    Happy Slumber Party!
Though I haven’t slept with a bunch of girls since high school, I was definitely the one who went nuts. You know the one- calling boys to sneak over, sneaking in beer and making prank calls (this was way before caller ID). We would do each other’s hair, tell scary stories and watch the Midnight Special with Wolfman Jack, remember him?
Today, I honestly grab whatever is handy, usually a tee and my hubby’s underwear (they’re more comfy ;), but I grabbed my Hello Kitty gown thingy and my Betsey Johnson socks (my one and only Betsey item). I have a rep to uphold, afterall, Tee-Hee! I was not the Sandy of the group…

    Hot chocolate anyone?
No more beer for me, especially before bed-acid reflux-yuck…
Damn, I’m getting old. I need to break bad…

Sleep tight-Don’t let the bed bugs bite…
And don’t look in the mirror and say Bloody Mary or she will appear…
    Nitey-Nite!

  • The Wind Beneath My Tripod…

    The Wind Beneath My Tripod…

    Happy Friday!

I love this skirt. I feel so girlie and kinda french in it.

OK, so first out the door, a snake crosses my path and squiggles down beneath our drive-way. Snakes freak me out! Then – The very first shot, the wind picked up my cammy and tripod and slung them into the yard. It was in total slow motion! When the panic that seized me dead in my pose was over, of course my best eye glasses were hung on the tripod.
I crawled around, all blind and stuff, til I found them underneath the camera…
She is fine. A bit dirty, but is resting comfortably in the recovery dept…
How’s your day going so far? LOL!

I have started a fitness program to feel better about myself.
    I didn’t realize how out-of-shape I’d become.
I did about 4 whole minutes of Zumba last night,YaY!
    Tomorrow I walk with weights.
    and…
    Here’s to a snakeless, wind-free weekend!

  • Bringing up May Flowers

    Bringing up May Flowers

Today was a day for getting my yearly physical. I hate to get my blood drawn. Thus a simple outfit for tromping around the University. I think sneakers would have helped…
My doctor’s office garb usually consists of easy out, easy back in clothing. But afterwards, the afternoon proved to be perfect! Super sunny and warm. Spring is definitely afoot in Cincy 😉 And so are my dandelions, honeysuckle, and roses!

Jets were jetting through the deep blue skies.
I could see the sun reflecting off the metal.

    Roses were rising!
    My first this year.

SKIRT: thrifted / CARDI: Dot’s.clx / SUNNIES: ASOS
Tonight I am trying to think of what PJ’s to wear to Terri’s slumber party!
    Have a sunny weekend!
