DIY Weekend / Let’s do some Shredding!

Hi All !What a great weekend!!! I’ve been up to no good. Well, not really, unless you think shredding tee shirts for days, gently knotting them together while watching hours of ‘The Americans’is not a good way to spend one’s time. I suppose it’s all in your perspective.I think of it as either meditation, or creative nonsense… I’ll let you decide for yourself 😉 the inspiration from a Piperlime ad… Diy instructions:Don’t try to be perfect, the messier the better!Cut thin, long strips – pull tight to make the sides look ‘rolled’ – cut, knot – tie, tie, and tie.Enjoy!

Outfit Post: Cropped Vintage Jacket Addiction

Hi everyone!I am writing this with a very sleepy head right now. I spent a lot of time today enjoying the sweet lower temps that showed up here in Cincy. I snagged this vintage cropped jacket a few months ago with definite plans on how to wear it. It must have a flowy top underneath. I was patient and did wait, until I remembered this top I’d purchased from Dot’s last fall! It was buried, of course… Which reminds me, I have some cool summer floral pants that I am gonna sell very soon. Stay tuned – they will be…

    To The Dump? Never!

Hi everybody! Today is The Big Day, Earth Day.Each year since I started blogging, I have dedicated Rags2Roses to Earth Day.Of course, this year my theme is to recycle. Especially our clothes!Shopping second hand first is a great place to start… From thrifted T shirts to vintage hats, sunnies and brooches – Not only buying second hand, but donating to eliminate excessive ‘junk’ we don’t really need, is a way to be eco-friendly. Our earth is really taking a beating and if we don’t do our part to save her, she will perish. Vintage Brooches: All ThriftedDIY Sharpie TeeVintage Banana…

    Follow Your Floral Guts

Ya know how the ‘experts’ saythat if you haven’tworn something in a year, donate it? That is not true in my little world…Every 5 to 8 years, trends recycle themselves. The only usual difference isa slightly different waist/hem/length. I have clothes that are 15 or more years young. And I still wear them! I go by my gut when it comes to style or trends. If I like it, I keep it. There will always be room for a bag or two of extra keepers… Like these floral pants that are stomping down runways all over the place. I’ve had them…

    Synchronicity….

Hi everybody,Hope the week is treating you great so far… I don’t have a whole lot to say today other than I am learning what ‘fits’ my style without compromising it. I know how much everyone hates to hear about body insecurity, but…..Lately I’m dealing with major body image issues. I don’t feel good about my body. Period.I feel warped – out of sync…This usually passes. I suppose that’s where wisdom comes in. Everything passes in time and when I am feeling something is ‘off’, it usually comes from pride, ego or self-esteem issues. Comparing, instead of celebrating the differences…

    “Why yes, I do!”

Hi everybody! Thanks for the nice thoughts sent out my way yesterday. It was just one of those days…Ya know- The other day at the doctor’s office, a lady told me that I reminded herof her daughter. Of course, instead of ‘thanks’, I asked why.“Do you shop in thrift stores?” she asked. “Why yes I do!”“You look so neat and hip. My daughter loves thrift stores.” she said.My ego was flattered. I think…We proceeded to chat about how finding things in a thrift store gives you more choices, more unique style and we even talked about ‘cookie cutter’ fashion!A stranger told…
